Passion and Compassion, a Recipe for Success - Marilyn Schlossbach, Executive Chef & Restaurateu

If you don’t know Marilyn Schlossbach, it’s likely you’ve eaten at one of her restaurants. She is the Executive Chef and Owner of The Marilyn Schlossbach Group, which includes, Langosta Lounge, Pop’s Garage, Asbury Park Yacht Club, Labrador Lounge, Russell & Bette’s, and Marilyn Schlossbach Catering and Events. As if that wasn’t enough, Marilyn is an executive board member of the New Jersey Restaurant and Hospitality Association and has started a nonprofit that provides young people an opportunity to learn about the hospitality and the culinary industry. With so much on this chef’s plate, you’d think she’d have some complicated guide to success, but Marilyn seems to be driven by her passion for good food and compassion for her community.

Give us a brief description of your business...

I represent hospitality thru a la carte dining, catering, leadership training and personal appearances. I also have a non profit - Food For Thought By The Sea - www.foodforthoughtap.com which works with partnering nonprofits and local youth to elevate our local and global community thru food, surf and wellness.

How did you get started?

My mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer when I was in my late teens. I was working for my brother at his French Japanese restaurant Oshin. I became passionate about food and where it comes from and how it is prepared thru my mother’s commitment to healthy eating and healing for her illness. She went into 100% remission and this was life changing for me.
